Hello!

My name is Curt, also known as Lone Wolf, owner/operator of Southern Sounds Radio on the internet).

I thought it might be interesting to put together a little profile about myself so the people who listen to the station can find out a little bit about the person behind it all. Of course, I may be wrong. It might not be interesting at all!! But I'm going to roll with it anyway.

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I live in the Midwest, Indiana to be specific. Been married to my wife Margeau for quite a long time. I don't remember how long, but I know we just celebrated a major anniversary. We got a couple little girls (the furry kind), a sweet Silky Terrier named Ginger, and well spoiled, snowy white Maltese name Samantha. I think it's safe to say all three are the loves of my life.

When I am not being Lone Wolf, I am at work driving an overhead crane in a steel mill. Yeah. What great fun. But it's a job. and I have been doing it for a long time. We won't say exactly how long.

And when I am not being Lone Wolf OR driving a crane in a steel mill, I am enjoying one of the several hobbies I engage in. These would include watching Ultimate Fighting, Football ( Go Packers!), online gaming (Ultima Online in particular), and of course computers.

I also like to read when I get time. Science Fiction and Fantasy my preference.

Oh yeah, National Geographic Channel (Dog Whisperer) and Sci-Fi channel are on my TV viewing agenda. And no matter how many things I have to do, I ALWAYS find time to watch my all time favorite TV show.....LOST !!

UH oh, here comes the personality part of this profile.

You might not like me too much politically. I am strongly conservative, very opinionated on it too. In fact, I'm very opinionated about everything. Sometimes that gets me into to trouble, but that's the way I roll.

I like to think I have a great sense of humor and can usually find some in most anything.  I find myself trying to be funny quite a bit of the time, but I hear laughter is good for the soul. I also realize that I border on overkill with it and that can be more of an annoyance to people then anything. But...oh well

I'm pretty stubborn too, but I am a Taurus so I have an official excuse !

That should just wrap it up for the personality part of this profile. Lovely, huh?

Now for the music part of my life.

I've pretty much always had an interest in it, and I guess it can be traced back to the 60's and the British invasion. Yeah, you know...the likes of the Dave Clark Five, Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits, and of course The Beatles!

Later on the 60's I escaped the British Rock invasion, except the Beatles. Nobody ever escapes the Beatles. I started getting into more American rock things. The Doors. Steppenwolf. Creedence Clearwater Revival. I think I cried the day John Fogerty left CCR, and it was pretty much the end for them.

But my real fascination with music started in the early 70's when I discovered my very first music hero Kris Kristofferson. Yeah, I was growing up and getting into the heavy dudes, and the songwriter scene. Kris taught me to really appreciate a well crafted song, and that music wasn't always about the "music" if you know what I mean. It was the beginning of a new era of music for me!

A few years later, I experienced the explosion of the Country Outlaw movement spearheaded by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, the greatest country singer to ever live. While those two were the face of outlaw scene, others such as David Allan Coe, Hank Williams Jr, and Johnny Cash, Billy Joe Shaver and Steve Young were contributing their fair share. I swear, I never missed a concert when these guys came to town ! Throw in the Southern Rock bands that appeared to peak during that time and musically, it was easily the most exciting time of my life.

Eventually that craze faded into the background, and I begin digging the folk sounds of John Prine, Lucinda Williams, and Nanci Griffith. Thta has kind of taken me to where I am today....the whole Alternative Country/Americana thing.

Imagine my surprise when I found that most of the music I have loved most of my life seemed to fit, some of it rather loosely, under the rather large umbrella of a genre called Americana.

How convenient for me and plans for an internet radio station. I always wanted to put my vast music collection to use. Southern Sounds radio has become a reality for me. And that's where I am right now.

LW.
